Todays post is a quicky with a third party tool recommendation. This gives you an easy way to turn on/off Security protocols 👍

The issue:

IIS Crypto is a free tool that gives administrators the ability to enable or disable protocols, ciphers, hashes and key exchange algorithms on Windows Server.

It is mainly used in conjunction with IIS. (Hence the name) It comes in handy for onprem Exchange as well as RDS troubleshooting as they both use IIS.

The resolution:

To use the tool, just download it from the website

If anything this just saves you time having to poke about in the registry, so anything that saves a little time is great in my books!

A word of warning though:

I really only ever use this tool when either specifically looking to disable protocols for things like audits or when troubleshooting.

Its great to give you an overview of whats on and whats not (by default EVERYTHING is ticked)

It can give you some indication to whoevers been “fiddling” before you.
